Wild Country Areas

If your expedition team is intending to travel unaccompanied through Wild Country an expedition notification form must be completed and forwarded at least 6 weeks in advance to the relevant Expedition Coordinator if you require an assessor and at least 4 weeks in advance if it is a practice expedition or you are taking your own assessor.

Please note a copy should also be emailed to Mike Baxter.

May 2010 update: If you need an assessor from an Assessor Network, you will need to buy an assessment voucher, these are £30 Bronze, £45 Silver and £60 Gold and cover the whole team. You can buy the vouchers from the online shop.  More information can be found in the briefing notes and frequently asked questions.

The forms you need are here:

Contact details of the Assessor Networks, can be found on the D of E website.

If you are travelling outside the UK on your expedition the same conditions apply equally to expeditions taking place in the UK.  In addition participants must complete at least one practice expedition in the UK before departure.

Notice must be given to the Operating Authority at least 12 weeks in advance using the standard blue Notification forms for Expeditions Abroad.

Adventurous Challenge

If you are planning an adventurous challenge but may not be able to meet one or two of the specific 20 conditions, you need to have this approved in advance using the standard Variations Request form.  This must be completed and attached to the relevant notification form and sent via your Operating Authority to your Regional/country office to arrive at least 12 weeks prior to the date of departure.

<< The form can be found on the Conditions and Variations page>>
