Expedition Paperwork

What paperwork is needed for expeditions and where can I find it?

Planning the expedition

There is a number of document to help with this:

> Expedition training guide

> Expedition planning guide

> Routecards

All of these can be found on the Expedition Training Guide page.

Nights Away Paperwork

For all nights away, you need to hold a Nights Away Permit. At least one week before your expedition, you need to submit a nights away notification form to your District. If a supervisor will not be camping with the group, you also need to issue the group with a passport.

Here is some links to more information:

> Nights Away Permit Scheme (Scout site)

> Nights Away Notification Form (word)

> Nights Away Passport (pdf)

> Model Consent Form (word)

> Scoutbase Consent Form (editable pdf)

> In touch scheme (replaces home contacts)

Expedition Notification

The following need to be notified:

> Expeditions in the South Downs (6 weeks beforehand). More info on their website.

> Expeditions in Wild Country (inc. Exmoor) which are unsupervised (4 weeks, or 6 weeks if you need an assessor. More information on the Wild Country Page.)

> Expeditions abroad at least 3 months in advance. More information here.
